There was one very significant event that I happened to omit from my last blog, regarding my recent trip to Davos. The incident was somewhat traumatizing, or at least severely uncomfortable, and it left me feeling as though all of the acclimatizing and adapting I had accomplished over the last five years in Europe, was for nothing. Deep breath: I will now go ahead and tell you the tale of three young Canadian women who attempted to spend an afternoon. So during the Spengler Cup tournament in Davos, us hockey-wives and families had to find things to do outside of the hotel each afternoon before games. Some other wives from the team were bringing their kids to swim and so it seemed like a fairly innocent endeavor. When we arrived we were asked if we wanted to join the families in the main pool or try out the adults-only wellness center.

Nudity in pool locker rooms: natural or offensive?
Yes of course. We have gender mixed locker rooms in our public saunas. Which is not a big deal since everyone is going to see each other naked anyway in the sauna area. The toilet rooms there are gender separated for some illogical reason though. Sauna in the Dutch language area - Wikipedia. Any locker rooms that are not in a public sauna like in a gym, public swimming pool, school, and work places are generally not mixed gender, but almost always gender separated. Though I had a mixed locker room in my primary school as have my daughters now. Public swimming pools sometimes even have cubicl Public swimming pools sometimes even have cubicles for changing even though the locker rooms are gender separated already.
I had an interesting experience in a family locker room recently. Have you seen Mr. Remember the scene in the elementary school parking lot?
I thought I had understood the instructions of the kind receptionist lady on how to get to the changing room. I opened the door, ran into a guy in boxers, mumbled an apology, turned around as fast as I could and closed the door firmly behind me. I looked around. This was the only door. Since I was early for class there were no other women whose lead I could follow. Looking fearless while trembling on the inside, of course. Now, I like my body. Nothing wrong with that. I have no problems being naked in a ladies locker room.
